Landskron Circuit

Dominating the Leimental from its height of 340 meters above sea level, Landskron Castle has watched over the Leimental for centuries. Registered as a historical monument in 1923, it has endured the ravages of time before becoming the subject of an active commitment from a Franco-Swiss association dedicated to its preservation and enhancement since 1983.

Today, having become an emblem of the region, the site is accessible from both sides of the border and offers visitors a privileged setting to explore the numerous trails that wind through the foothills of the Jura.

The trail also leads to the Chapel of the Souls in Purgatory. Built solely with local materials and according to Alsatian craftsmanship, this small chapel serves as a peaceful stop, particularly appreciated by hikers and pilgrims.

Accessible to all, this loop of about 3 km is ideal for discovering Landskron Castle. For walkers wishing to extend the experience, a longer route of about 7 km leads to the Abbey of Mariastein in Switzerland.
