Hike of the 3 lakes

Starting from the Ermensbach parking lot, this 11.2 km hike takes you to discover three stunning alpine lakes, through deep forests, shaded paths, and mountain landscapes.

From the very first meters, the trail gently rises, offering a pleasant warm-up. Soon, you will reach the "Path of Stones" through the forest. After about an hour of walking, you will arrive at Neuweiher, a peaceful site consisting of two stacked lakes with clear waters. It is also here that you will find the Neuweiher inn-refuge where you can enjoy traditional local dishes in a pastoral setting facing the lake.

The hike continues towards Lake des Perches (or Sternsee), nestled in an impressive glacial cirque. The trail leading there climbs a bit more steeply. This lake, wilder, offers a striking mineral setting, ideal for relaxation or photography. Depending on the season, the reflections of the sky on the water are spectacularly beautiful.

On the way back, the route passes by the Riesenwald inn, another favorite stop for hikers. Once again, the warm welcome and typical cuisine allow you to regain strength before the descent. The loop gently closes as you descend back to the starting point.

Swimming is prohibited in the three lakes along the route. In summer, the occasional presence of cyanobacteria can make the water unsafe, especially for animals. As a precaution, avoid allowing your pets to drink from the lakes.
