The Donon massif, a natural geographic border, was also used twice as a national border between 1870 and 1918 as well as between 1940 and 1945. This massif separates the western slope and the Framont valley that flows into the Bruche on the Alsatian side, and the valleys of the Plaine, Sarre Rouge, and Sarre Blanche on the Lorraine side. After a tour of the Donon massif, this route will take you over the pass for a quick loop in the Plaine valley.
