BR48 From the banks of the Rhine to the Marne-Rhine canal

The Route
Starting from Strasbourg, the route follows the EuroVelo 15 - Rhine Cycle Route - and makes an incursion into the Rhineside forest of Robertsau/Wantzenau, classified as a national nature reserve. The splendid Parc du Pourtalès and its château, located nearby, deserves a stop. The circuit continues along the high water levee running parallel to the Rhine. From La Wantzenau, a succession of villages facing the Rhine presents itself to the cyclist: Gambsheim, with its locks and fish pass, Offendorf, with its classified Rhine forest and its boating heritage, Drusenheim, with its Altwasser gardens and its Rhine ferry. The route then takes the cycling path of the Moder valley to Haguenau, the city of Barberousse, a dynamic and pleasant Gateway to Northern Alsace, rich in its exceptional forest. A quiet road leads to Brumath, the former regional capital in Roman times. Its leisure area, spread around its body of water, can serve as a refreshing stop. Finally, the return to Strasbourg is via the EuroVelo5 - Via Romea along the cycle route of the Marne-Rhine canal and its towpath.
