Offenburg (DE) - Molsheim

The Route
The cross-border itinerary leaves Offenburg, the metropolis of Ortenau on the Baden Wine Route and a stage of the "Drei Täler Radweg," following the Kinzig River along the Kinzigtal Cycling Path until it reaches Kehl-am-Rhein where it flows into the Rhine. After crossing the Rhine via the footbridge of the two shores, it traverses Strasbourg, the European capital, and heads south along a bike path developed along the Ill, a river that flows through the Alsatian metropolis. Arriving at the confluence of the Ill and the Bruche Canal, it follows the route of the Bruche Canal Cycling Route - EuroVelo 5 along the shaded banks of this small canal and reaches the foothills of the Vosges in Molsheim. The canal was built by Vauban to transport sandstone from the Vosges intended for the construction of Strasbourg's fortifications. In Ergersheim, the route angles southwest and joins Molsheim, former episcopal city and cradle of the Bugatti automobile brand, passing under the ramparts and at the foot of the Dachstein castle.
