In the center of a two-kilometer-long plateau, bordered by mountains, the village of Saâles was built on the Via Salinaria at a point that makes it easy to cross the Vosges. The municipality has confirmed its role as a commercial town throughout history. Indeed, as early as 1743, it obtained the privilege to hold a fair and a market. In 1924, the town hall, rebuilt, houses on the ground floor the market halls.
