BL780 - On both sides of the Rhine, from Breisach to Brisach

The Route
This route combines the richness of historical heritage with the history of electric energy, notably from the Rhine, which serves as a true link in the circuit.
Starting from Fessenheim, the homeland of Victor Schœlcher - a fervent advocate for the fight against slavery and committed to the advancement of human rights, travel through the countryside paths that connect the small municipalities located along the Rhine. Pass close to Neuf-Brisach, the city of the Sun King and a masterpiece of Vauban with its unique octagonal architecture, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Then cross the Rhine in front of an initial hydroelectric project to discover Breisach, whose Romanesque Collegiate Church of St. Stephen houses a rich interior ornamentation. Then descend along the German part of the Rhine to return to your starting point, passing by a second hydroelectric project.
