The GR 130 Ijzer crosses 50% of the Westhoek region in French Flanders and 50% of West Flanders (Bachten de Kupe). It is a gentle ride on a flat and very open landscape.

Seeing the river pass from a field stream over an expanding river to a sea of water near Nieuwpoort is the (white) thread of this trip.

You can follow this winter variant during periods of high water levels or even flooding.
The variant starts at the intersection with Rue de Stavele (Herzele) and ends at Sint-Omaarsstraat (Roesbrugge).
