Description by the author

A nice walk around Signy-le-Petit. Departure at the parking lot of the pond of La Motte. During the summer holidays it can get very crowded, but rest assured: people come here to swim and sunbathe on the beach on the north side. We take the path on the south side and take a step east a little after the lake. Then we take a path to the south, cross the wider road, go a little left and then go down further. After about 300 meters we follow the path on the right. We now leave the beautiful forest of the Size of the Cross Bala. The path now becomes a fordable stream for about 50m. Soon we arrive at a paved road. We now descend via the gendarmerie and the castle to Signy-le-Petit. There you can admire and visit the fortified church - so typical of the region - on the square. There is also a department store, bakery, café, restaurant. What a luxury in this sparsely populated and poor region. Leaving the city, we take the road towards Brognon but immediately (in some ugly garages) we turn right, passing in front of the music school, then left and right. After this slalom, direction the Fourneau. We arrive in 2 factories -1 of them of processed oak. Between the two factories, we follow a path. At the end, we turn left and at the height of a large and old farm, we turn right, along the edge of the forest. We now descend slowly towards the pond of the Old Forge. Here you can choose. Either you take the north bank and pass the 19th century remains of a small power station that supplied Signy and Brognon. Even earlier, there was a blast furnace here. You will also pass in front of the stone to the Virgin. You can read the story on the spot... If you choose the south shore, it's best to stay as close to the water as possible. Where the lake ends, you can follow the river through a beautiful forest. Finally, you arrive at a waterfall with a bridge above it. That's it, you're back in the parking lot.
