Mont Gerbier de Jonc is a mountain of volcanic origin in the Ardèche. At the foot of the mountain is the source of the Loire, France's longest river. It is also the location where this walk starts. Those who dare and are in good condition can climb the mountain before the start of the hike. The route has a length of 14 km and largely runs through wooded area.
