In the Middle Ages, Sore was a fortified village on the heights. "The city" as it was called, was the home of a fortified castle and a mill to support the residents. This medieval city, which had three defensive gates, was destroyed during the religious wars, it remains today only the lower part of the latter known as the door of English (twelfth century).
