Via Tolosana Part III: Toulouse - Pau

Via Tolosana Part III from Toulouse to Pau (198 km)

1. At a kind of fork in the waterways (in North Toulouse), look for the turn to the right of the Canal de Garonne (asking is necessary here, as there are also bike paths along the Garonne river, which you should avoid). Follow the bike path to the right and then left along the Canal Latéral à Garonne until the lock at Lespinasse. Here, turn left towards Seilh and Aussonne. In Aussonne, follow the direction to Merville and then Daux. Via Montaigut-s-Save to Levignac and l’Isle-Jourdain. The large inaccessible area of the Airbus aircraft factories makes it necessary to pass Toulouse this way. If you want to avoid Toulouse (which is a shame because the center is definitely worth it), you can also take a southern route. You leave the Canal in Montgiscard. Follow the D24 to Montbrun – Corronsac - along Aureville. After Falgarde at the T-junction, turn right onto the D4 - first road on the left, the bridge over to Portet-sur-Garonne D24. In Portet, keep right onto the viaduct over N20 and take E80. At the T-junction first left, then right and on D15 left over the tracks to Cugnaux. - Here turn right (2nd road) follow D24 to Plaisance-du-Toulouse. In Plaisance, cross D632 diagonally left via D42 to Salvetat-St.Gilles and Léguvin. In Léguvin D42B to Mérenvielle. Here turn left to Ségourielle and L’Isle-Jourdain.

2. L'Isle-Jourdain - D161+D253 Gimont

3. Gimont - D12 along Abbé de Gimont and right via Juilles to L'Isle-Arné - D149 Lussan - along Montégut - Auch.

4. Leave Auch via Rue d’Etigny, Rue de l’Egalité (one-way=walking) and then follow the signs for “Route de Barran.” On D943 left to Barran and then L'Isle-de-Noé - Montesquiou

5. Montesquiou D943+D34+D216 Pouylebon - D159 Castille - D943 Laveraet – Marciac – Maubourguet.

6. Maubourguet - D943 Vidouze (at the intersection before Vidouze, go straight, then follow left école/mairie. Do not follow the GR 653 above, but go right steeply around the church) - Luc Arnau – Lucarre - D224 Momy – Anoye - towards Abère on D7 right Gabaston - St.Jammes – Morlaàs - D943 Pau.
