This is the tenth stage of the Via Tolonensis, also known in France as GR653, one of the four main routes from France to Santiago de Compostela. The route runs from Arles through Montpellier, Castres, and Toulouse to the Col de Somport, where it connects to the Spanish caminos.
The stage from Lodève to Lunas is nearly 27 km long and is marked with the familiar red and white signs. The route takes a significant detour via Joncels, making it somewhat long. A shortcut is possible by following the GR7 after 9 km and then the GRP Haut Languedoc 2.5 km later to reach Lunas. In that case, the stage is 18 km.
