Glastonbury is an important holy site and place of pilgrimage for both Christians and followers of nature religions. According to tradition, this is said to be the place where Celtic Christianity began after Joseph of Arimathea settled here. There are also local references to the Holy Grail and the legend of King Arthur. Glastonbury may have been inhabited since prehistoric times.
