Did you know that John Evelyn, the diarist was born at Wotton House in 1620. He is an important source of the UK history although Samuel Pepys's chronicles of the 17th-century life are more famous. He witnessed the deaths of Charles I and Oliver Cromwell, the last Great Plague of London, and the Great Fire of London in 1666.
