After descending from Mentmore and rounding the left-hand corner you will see the Black and White Ascott House on the hillside ahead.
Originally purchased in 1873 by by Baron Mayer de Rothschild (of Mentmore towers). In 1874 the House was taken over by Leopold de Rothschild for use as a hunting base. In 1949 the House, contents and grounds were given to the National Trust by Anthony de Rothschild.
