The Giant’s Causeway is directly related to a similar feature in the Northwest Scotland island of Staffa known as Fingal's Cave. There was a giant in Ireland by the name of Fionn mac Cumhaill who was having trouble with the Scottish giant Benandonner who was threatening Ireland. One day, Fionn became enraged so he grabbed chunks of the Antrim coast and threw them into the Irish sea to form a path for him to follow to the north and teach Benandonner a lesson. Turns out this was a bad idea because Benandonner was terrifyingly massive. Fionn beat a hasty retreat followed by Benandonner. The only thing that saved Fionn was that Fionn’s quick thinking wife disguised him as a baby. When the angry Benandonner saw the “baby”, he decided that if the child was that big, the daddy must be really huge and he fled back to Scotland.
