Tommy Flowers built during WW II the famous first computer Colossus at the Post Office's telephone exchange at Dollis Hill. The famous designer of this device was Alan Turing. Turing finished his design in 1940. The Colossus was used to code-break the secret messages of the Enigma Machine of the Nazi's. Colossus became fully operational in 1943. The machine ran not here but at Bletchley Park.
