Ravenstonedale railway station was situated on the South Durham & Lancashire Union Railway between Tebay and Kirkby Stephen East. It served the villages of Ravenstonedale and Newbiggin-on-Lune.
The station was built by the SD&LUR, which was promoted by the Stockton and Darlington Railway and was opened on 8 August 1861. It was initially named Newbiggin until it was renamed Ravenstonedale on 1 January 1877. The SD&LUR was merged into the S&DR on 1 January 1863 and the latter was merged into the North Eastern Railway on 13 July 1863.
