Skipness Castle is a scheduled historic monument, which is free to enter and explore. together with Kilbrannan Chapel, with some rare stone carvings, it forms a fascinating historical landscape. Across the Sound is the Isle of Arran and the ferry from Claonaig to Lochranza can often be seen plying across the Sound of Kilbrannan. There's a smokehouse and, even better, a cafe specialising in seafood - although it serves other food, too. don't be surprised to be visited by a tame deer whilst you are having a drink.
