Did you know that the Flemish painter Anthony Van Dyck was buried in Saint Paul's Cathedral? He had made it here in England. Charles I granted him numerous privileges, a noble title, and the right to be buried in this cathedral. However, the Great Fire of 1666 destroyed his grave. You can still find a memorial stone in the crypt that says "the Flemish master...having enriched England with many famous portraits...".
