This route starts and ends in Lewes, the place where Charles Dawson spent his last years. The route takes you to Piltdown.
In 1912, Charles Dawson claimed he had found the " missing link " between ape and man. That was a gigantic breakthrough in science. He had found that missing link in Piltdown. The result was that numerous people started digging there too. It later turned out to be a hoax. Charles Dawson had pieced the skull together himself, joining human and ape bones together.
