You can start this route at a train station (Parracombe railway station). Don't just pass by this castle (Newberry Castle), but stop and enjoy an imposing construction. There is little (no) chance you will be seeing cars along this route. Suitable for a race bike. The roads are paved. Some climbs as a main dish with suffering as a topping. Don't forget to stop at Mockham Down. A great route with the best scenic roads in rapid succession. If you enjoy water, you'll certainly enjoy this route.
