You can see the luxurious hotel Elies from the beach of Vathy. The hotel is not one building but several houses in the style of the island. The buildings are nicely integrated in the landscape. The name Elies refers to an old olive grove on this location. There is also a funny anecdote that was told to us by a lady from Milos. The owner of Elies ordered and planted a large amount of young olive trees on the Elies compound. The goats of the neighbouring farm thought differently about this and ate all the young olive trees.
