The Morosini Fountain is an ornate Venetian fountain with four lions. This is at Eleftheriou Venizelou square in the center of Heraklion. But the inhabitants of the city never use the official name. They usually refer to this place as the Lion Square. The fountain with the lions is one of the most important constrcuties of the Venetians. It solved a very practical problem. It provided Heraklion with water. The fountain provided to 1,000 barrels of water per day.
