The eastern area of Lemnos, around Repanidi, Kondopouli and Kaleopi is the wheat area of Lemnos. There are a lot of other place where they grow the great wheat of Lemnos, but here you will find the wheat fields one next to the other. The hard wheat of Lemnos is the source for the great bread they have here. You will notice it is a bit yellow, almost like a cake. This wheat is also the source of plenty of types of pasta they produce on the island. Centuries ago, Lemnos was known as the breadbasket of the region.
