On October 20, 1968, Aristotle Onassis and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis were married on this island. Before this marriage, Onassis ended his relationship with Maria Callas in order to marry the widow of John F. Kennedy. Jacqueline got three million dollars when she married him. Christina, Onassis daughter from his previous marriage, didn't want to know anything about Jackie and after the death of her brother Alexander, she convinced her father that Jackie was taking death in her wake and bringing bad luck. The couple became estranged from each other. Onassis died at the age of 69 in Neuilly-sur-Seine from the muscle disease myasthenia gravis. His daughter Christina inherited his fortune. Jackie challenged this and eventually reached an amicable settlement of $26 million.
