The Katafyki Ravine stretches for over five kilometres towards the small village of Fourni. Katafyki (ancient Katafighi) means 'exit to' in Greek, as this was the original footpath from ancient Hermione to the North, towards Epidavros, Kazarma, Tiryns and Mycenae. It was also where many Ermioni villagers in the past used to hide from the brutal raids by Turks and Pirates. Today, walking through the tree lined ravine, the footpath passes a little chapel, across a bridge, over flowing springs, especially during Spring when all the wild flowers are in abundance, past olive groves and enchanting fields with pine trees.
