Even though the eucalyptus tree is an exotic tree (it comes from Australia), it is a beautiful tree. And especially this specimen. The eucalyptus is excellent for drought resistance. Did you know that the Nyungah Aborigines used the leaves of the eucalyptus tree in the southwest of Australia as medicine? They were crushed into an antibacterial paste. They were also used in steam baths or crumpled up and held under the nose. Just pluck a few leaves from this tree and crush them between your fingers. Then you will certainly recognize the smell. The gum was crushed into an ointment for inflammations.
