Strumbo or Stroumpos is an almost inaccessible village located in the gorge valley. Araclos. The inhabitants were described by Langadha residents in the 19th century as aloof and sullen. The limited number of houses are lined with prickly pear cacti or Frangosika and agaves. You imagine yourself in a Mexican desert village that has fallen out of a Western. Both plants (agave and prickly pear cactus) come from Central America and do very well here on the dry rocky soil of the Aegean islands.
