At Paleo Eliades, you can still see a few remnants of an old church floor. But the sea eroded the shore and the church fell into the water. This shows the erosive power of the water. And also that the Flysch rocks that can be found here are not that resistant against erosion.
They rebuilt the chapel further away from the beachfront.
During the period 1879 - 1890, it was decided to move the church to its present location.
