You'll certainly notice the distinctive two-story architecture of houses. Many houses have a lower section traditionally used for storage or storeroom. This lower section was often simply and functionally furnished, while the upper floor was occupied. This architecture reflects the need to efficiently utilize limited space in the village, which served defensive purposes and features narrow streets between the houses. The flat roofs and multi-story construction often mean that streets run across roofs, and houses are connected by small bridges.
The flat roofs were also used to collect rainwater in cisterns.
