In Kastro, rainwater is still collected traditionally in cisterns, just as it was in the past. These cisterns are underground water storage facilities that were essential for retaining water in the dry climate of the Cyclades, where natural water sources are scarce. The flat roofs of the houses are designed to optimally drain rainwater into these cisterns, which remains a key component of the village's water management system. This ancient technique thus remains functional and leads to the sustainable use of rainwater.
