Grožnjan is an atmospheric artist village on a hilltop, with less than 800 inhabitants.
The village was in danger of being forgotten until it was discovered in the 1960s by artists and musicians who breathed new life into it.
Grožnjan is the only village in Croatia where a majority of the population consists of Italians.µ
If you drive from the other side of Motovun in the direction of Grožnjan, you do not have to take a gravel road.
There are many art galleries and studios in this village, and in the summer there are often open air concerts and music festivals . From mid-May to mid-September, Grožnjan is dominated by the 'Musical Cultural Summer', with many art and music workshops. During the day, musicians are regularly rehearsing outside.
It is also the highest point of the old Parenzana railway , today a well-known cycling and walking path.
