Muckross House and Gardens form the heart of Killarney National Park. It was the former residence of Henry Herbert, representative of County Kerry in the House of Commons. The building was constructed in 1843 in Victorian style. It is a museum and still has a lot of original furniture, a true journey back in time to the heart of 19th-century nobility. The shop connected to the house, selling handcrafted items, is very nice. They supply the textiles for the costumes of Riverdance. 32 beautiful bells on the wall for 32 different rooms each produced a different sound so that the staff knew in which room the master or mistress of the house needed them.
