Ramp Boreen Walk

The Ramp Boreen Walk is a looped community walk in Tallow, ideal for walkers looking for a leisurely ramble in the natural surroundings of rural Waterford. This flat, stone surfaced trail has eye-catching features to keep all of the family entertained. At the trailhead, walkers will note the eye-catching sculpture of a solid wood, two-headed dragon, as well as some carved woodland creatures and a colourful mural, reflecting the natural surroundings. Fairy doors and houses are dotted in the tall trees which border the trail, and continue along the trail in the village. Stunning views of rolling West Waterford countryside are visible throughout the trail.
Walkers can enjoy the sights and sounds of the River Bride and the smaller Glenaboy River, along with the accompanying flora and fauna as they embark on Ramp Boreen Walk. Walkers will also spot the ruins of Lisfinny castle on their journey, built in the 16th Century by the Earl of Desmond.
The looped trail then brings the walker past shops, cafés and restaurants in the heart of the village of Tallow.

Annual Closure Notice: Tallow Ramp Boreen
Some of the property traversed by the Tallow Ramp Boreen is private property. Access is available by kind permission of all the landowners/holders on the route. Persons entering do so by permission with the consent of the landowner. No matter how often they enter, or in what numbers, they do not do so as of right.
As further evidence of the permissive nature of the access, the route will be closed for one day on the third Thursday of December each year in agreement with the landowners. Nothing in this notice shall impact or address any pre-existing public rights of way.
