Carosino is a town and comune in the province of Taranto, in the northern Salento, part of the Apulia region of southeast Italy. Carosino was historically an Arbëreshë settlement.
According to Carosino's municipal website, Antonio Cinque believes that the name derives from the Latin "carus" and "situs" or "sinus" . G. Giovine believes that "sinus," which can also mean a fold of clothing or the bosom of a person, is related to the religious significance of Mary, mother of Jesus in the town.
