The mathematician Pythagoras founded this organization, brotherhood and school of the Pythagoreans in the city of Crotone . The philosophy he thaught was based on mathematics. To get pupils for his school he used a peculiar technique. He paid his students at the beginning to listen. If they wanted to hear more they had to pay.
