San Baronto: church of the cyclists.

Description

The San Baronto church refers to a French monk who settled on this hill after a pilgrimage to Rome, living as a hermit. Long after his death, Santo Baronto himself became a destination for those wishing to undertake a pilgrimage!

Santo Baronto has meanwhile become the patron saint for all (Tuscan) cycling enthusiasts. Countless cyclists and bike tourists have already entered the church. On July 10, 2010, the Italian Champion (2007 and 2010) Giovanni Visconti married his Katy in this church.
At the front of the church, two stairs lead to an underground crypt. Those who wish can find and take the "Preghiera del Ciclista" (prayer card for cyclists) at the back of the church.

Thank you, Lord,
for letting me know and love the bicycle/ that I love cycling
that makes me feel free on the roads of the world/ that I feel free on the roads
Make, oh Lord,
that the joy and toil of pedaling/ that the fatigue of cycling
be not just an escape from my daily commitments/ not just an escape from my daily concerns
but also a reason for gratitude/ but that it is also a reason to be grateful
for the infinite beauty of nature that I cross,/ for the infinite beauty of nature that I cross
for the Life and Faith that you give me every day/ for the life and the faith that you give me
and may it be an occasion/ that I behave well towards others
of good deeds towards others,
especially for those who are tired and discouraged./ especially for those who are tired and disheartened
Help me, Lord, / Help me
to find for them the right company and the right words / to find the right words for them
just as I manage to find/ just as I manage
the right gear on the tough climbs/ the right gear on the tough climbs
that I face with courage even if I have limited strength/ that I tackle with courage but limited strength
I hope, Lord
that my often timid and weak faith
is always enlivened by Your Divine Grace
so that I can finish the race / so that I can finish the race
with the serene conscience of having done my duty/ in the knowledge that I have fulfilled my duty as a cyclist and a Christian.
as a cyclist and a good Christian. Amen.
