The Lanfranchi Palace is the most important monument representing the 17th century in Matera, in the Basilicate region of Italy. In front of the door stands the sculpture La Goccia by Kengiro Azuma.
The building was designed and constructed between 1668 and 1672 by Brother Francesco da Copertino at the request of Archbishop Vincenzo Lanfranchi, with the aim of hosting the diocesan seminary. The construction of the structure also included the pre-existing del Carmine convent. In 1864, after the unification of Italy, the Palazzo Lanfranchi hosted the Emanuele Duni state high school until 1967, where the poet Pascoli also taught from 1882 to 1884.
