The Tita Piaz refuge is an alpine refuge in the western Carnic Alps located at 1,417 m in the municipality of Ampezzo, near the Passo del Pura, between the Nauleni and Tinisuta mountains, on the mountain road between Ampezzo and Sauris.
In 1890 the municipality of Ampezzo decided to replace the old hut-bivouac with a rustic masonry 2 floors, with adjoining stable for horses, which was used as a tavern with accommodation that hosted travelers for over thirty years. The construction of the road between Ampezzo and Sauris along the ravine of Lumiei and the abandonment of the one on Mount Pura caused the closure of the tavern in 1932. In 1942 the structure was transformed into a refuge dedicated to the mountain guide Tita Piaz, however the inauguration took place only after the war, on September 12, 1948. Modernizations took place in 1967 and 1973 until reaching the current comfortable structure.
