Piazzale degli Eroi is a large square located in the historic center of the city of Marino, in the province of Rome, in the area of the Castelli Romani. Today it has been turned into a park, and underground there are two levels used as underground parking.
At the beginning of the 19th century, the area now occupied by the square was a "cultivated land with fruits" extending 6 rubbia and 95, owned by the brothers Giuseppe and Nicola Gagliardi, sons of Domenico, leaseholders of the Hospital of San Giacomo degli Incurabili at the Corso in Rome. During the Fascist era, as can be inferred from some vintage photos, there were low walls in the area used as a training structure for the GIL and for pre-military courses.
