Provesano is a frazione of the comune of San Giorgio della Richinvelda, in the province of Pordenone in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. The name Provesano is of Roman origin; it consists of Probus or and the suffix –anu, indicating the landed property.
There were much people living in Provesano in Roman and pre-Roman times.
From the 11th century to 1871 Provesano belonged to the comune of Spilimbergo.In 1871 the people of Provesano wanted to join the comune of San Giorgio della Richinvelda.
