The church of Santa Maria Assunta is the parish church of Zero Branco, in the province and diocese of Treviso; it is part of the vicariate of Paese.
The pieve of Zero Branco was mentioned for the first time in the Justis fratrum bull of Pope Eugene III in 1152; it was the mother church of the three smaller pieves of Sambughé, Rio San Martino, and Sant'Alberto.
In 1485, the church was transformed into a three-nave structure and underwent a general remodeling.
