Description

The history of the castle Beseno on the Folgaria mountain had quite some influence on the conditions of life for the peasants around. Until 1470 they enjoyed a great autonomous existance. Then a new dynasty, the Trapp Counts of Beseno, came in and deprived the people from their privileges. A violent struggle followed and ended in a massacre on 5 February 1593, when seven men from Folgaria were killed. November 1655, when Queen Christina with her train passed by down in the valley, the castle gave her a cannonade-salute.
