Old Seminary Santa Caterina

The Istituto Arcivescovile Paritario Santa Caterina has been the center of culture and formation of the Pisan Church for more than two centuries. Today it houses the Seminary, the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences "Noccolò Stenone", the School of Theological Formation, the Comprehensive Institute and the Scientific Secondary School, as well as the University Pension "G. Toniolo". In the institute there are conferences and congresses, exhibitions and book presentations and the prestigious Cathariniana library is made available to the public, which is headquartered here, albeit in different rooms, since the thirteenth century, when the building complex housed the Dominican monastery. Today it preserves manuscripts, incunabula and more than 50,000 volumes, from the sixteenth century to contemporary works.
