The church and monastery were founded by the Humiliati between 1254 and 1278 and passed to the friars of Saint Francis of Paola in the 16th century; in the 17th century and in 1895 they were restored. The bell tower dates from 1821.
Inside are three paintings from the 17th century: the Madonna and Child, St. Anna and St. Torpè by Francesco Vanni, St. Charles Borromeo and episodes from his life by Giovanni Stefano Marucelli, and the Conversion of St. Johannes Gualbert by Giovanni da San Giovanni.
The two altars leaning against the right wall, one dedicated to Francis of Paola and the other to Saint Charles Borromeo, house paintings of The Madonna in Glory between Saint John of the Cross and Saint Therese (c. 1820) by Domenico. Nani da Udine and The Saint and Episodes from His Life by Giovanni Stefano Maruscelli (after 1631).
