When thinking of Tuscany, not many people immediately think of a wonderful beach holiday. People tend to think of picturesque hilly landscapes and beautiful towns and villages such as Siena, Florence and San Gimignano.
When it comes to the most beautiful places in Tuscany, the beautiful coastal strip of the region is sometimes forgotten and that is certainly not right. The region that is ideal for a coastal holiday is the Versilia region, in the northwest of Tuscany. A beautiful part of the Tuscan coastal strip is therefore called the Riviera della Versilia.
The beautiful beaches of Forte dei Marmi were discovered over the last century by the wealthy inhabitants of northern Italy. They paid a visit to the seaside resort at the weekend or during holidays to relax on the beaches.
It didn't take too long before foreign tourists also started to discover Forte dei Marmi and this is how a popular seaside resort was created, which is mainly aimed at the wealthier tourists. If you want to spend a day at the beach in Forte dei Marmi, for example, you have to spend 25 euros for two sunbeds, an umbrella and a table.
You do get a beautiful and clean beach in return and you can also use facilities such as wifi, toilets, showers and free parking. When you go to Forte dei Marmi for a day, you can't skip the beautiful beach, so if you have the money, this is definitely recommended.
In Forte dei Marmi you can also enjoy shopping in the many boutiques with trendy clothing that you will find in the center. Shopping is not cheap here, but the clothing sold in Forte dei Marmi is of excellent quality.
For example, in Forte dei Marmi you will find the oldest disco in Italy: La Capannina. This disco has been open since 1929 and is still very popular among Italian and International celebrities.
