The villa Garzoni with accompanying Mannerist garden is one of the most beautiful villas in Tuscany. The villa is located at the foot of the village of Collodi, which is best known as the pseudonym of Carlo Lorenzini, writer of Pinocchio.
The villa has been visited over the centuries by many well-known and famous figures including Ferdinand of Austria, Anna dei Medici, Napoleon Bonaparte and of course Carlo Lorenzini who often stayed in the gardens seeking inspiration for his literary works.
The gardens are executed in a style that hangs between Baroque and Mannerism and therefore contains quite a few theatrical elements. It was used as a source of inspiration for, among other things, the beautiful gardens of the Reggia di Caserta. You will find a large number of marble and ceramic statues of muses and Greek gods, a labyrinth, a lake, a bamboo forest, fountains, a cave, a beautifully decorated double staircase, a butterfly house and a small summer cottage.
