The former church of San Jacopo in Castellare was located in Pistoia, close to the slope of Castellare.
The church may date from the 11th century, although it was first mentioned in 1131, and was popularly known as San Jacopino. The Castellare must have been a fortress built in the first circle of walls.
It was closed in 1784 and later housed a wool mill where poor girls who were housed in the nearby Scuole Leopoldine (now the State Archives) worked. Only a few traces of the church's facade remain in the sloping cobbled street known as the "sdrucciolo" (slope) of the Castellare.
The state archive of Pistoia is housed in the former monastery.
